Our go to sushi spot in Bakersfield. From simple rolls to flaming they have it all! The servers are always very attentive and make the experience great!
We had the kindest experience this week! One of the ladies in the kitchen was helping on the floor because they were short staffed right before the dinner hour. The lady that waited out table was the sweetest soul. She made the experience SO special for our kids. Don't keep someone of that nature in the back unless she loves cooking of coarse. Haha That's the kind of service you don't get anymore. When people are that kind to your kids it really stands out.
Arrived at 4:30pm before dinner rush. Immediately seated. Friendly staff. Lots of selection on the menu. My friend wanted sushi and I'm not a fan, but there were plenty of food options. I ordered tempura Udon. Broth was perfect. Udon noodles perfect. The lighting was excellent and the restaurant was comfortable and clean. Would definitely return to try other options.
Service here is elite! The chefs are the best in town! The owners are the sweetest, the waitress & waiters are very friendly and sweet! I love coming here with my family. The ambiance , well if you're like me. You can be anywhere! But here , it's traditional Japanese theme restaurant, I picture us in Osaka under cherry blossom trees , but it's calm, quiet, clean, the music isn't loud . Everything is just right. The food the main reason we keep going back! The don't disappoint! Not one dish . My top favorites 1) the pink bear 2) crazy baby 3) tiger Favorite appetizers 1) green mussels 2) miso soup 3) spicy garlic edamame Drinks 1) strawberry soju 2) sake 3) hot green tea, they serve it in a cute pot ! They make me feel like an empress 5/5 Best sushi spot in Bakersfield! No other place has topped them!
My husband and I were in the mood for some sushi and decided to order takeout from Umi. The server on the phone was friendly as I placed our order. I chose the mixed tempura and the spicy rainbow roll. My husband ordered an avocado roll, a cucumber roll and a double veggie roll. The tempura had a nice mixture of vegetables along with two shrimp. The tempura batter kept a bit of its crunch despite getting it to go. The spicy rainbow roll was tasty and basically what you'd expect it to taste like. My husband enjoyed his avocado roll and double veggie roll. The cucumber roll was a bit different as it had the seaweed on the outside and only had four large rolls in it. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. The only downside was the ginger. It appeared to be old and dried out. Umi continues to be one of our favorites.
